SYRACUSE — The Mars Hill Network, based at flagship station 102.9 WMHR, is observing Black History Month with brief vignettes airing twice each weekday throughout February. You can hear the segments, titled “Treasured Moments in Black History,” at 7:40am and 6:20pm.
Updated 2/3 – SYRACUSE — The Mars Hill Radio Network is looking for a new program director, according to a job posting which appeared online Friday. Between full-power stations and translators, the network’s religious programming is broadcast on more than 20 frequencies stretching from Syracuse west to Rochester, south to Long Island and north to the Canadian border.
SYRACUSE — “The most famous Syracuse broadcasters that most of Syracuse has never heard of.” That’s how reporter Hart Seely describes Mars Hill Radio (WMHR) morning co-hosts Mark Hard and Rich McVicar on the front page of today’s Syracuse Post-Standard. Seely’s referring to the longevity and reach of Mars Hill, a station which measures success differently than the ratings which rule commercial stations.
SYRACUSE — Fans of the Mars Hill Network’s religious programming have at least two chances in the near future to gather and enjoy some family-friendly entertainment. The stations are also preparing for some weekend program lineup changes in August.
UTICA/ROME — The newest affiliate of the Syracuse-based Mars Hill Network, WMHU (91.1/Cold Brook) is now fully licensed by the FCC. The “License to Cover” was granted on July 11, but the FCC officially announced the approval today.

SYRACUSE — The Mars Hill Network, based in Syracuse with flagship station WMHR, hosted its second “Christian Professional Media Alliance” meeting last week in Liverpool. Mars Hill says it hopes the group will facilitate networking among Christians who work in the media.
SYRACUSE — There’s a part-time opening at the Mars Hill Radio Network of stations, headquartered at WMHR in Syracuse. They’re looking for someone to anchor morning drive newscasts and other announcing duties. The official job posting reads as follows:
COLD BROOK — Although the Mars Hill Network gained FCC approval to build a new FM station in Herkimer County in 2008, the project is going through another round of scrutiny from the Commission. That’s because the Syracuse-based religious broadcaster wants to change the transmission site for the new station. |
