Rare to see such top-level announcements being made during the weekend, but both Clear Channel and National Public Radio have announced their new Chief Operating Officers today. At CC Media Holdings, ”Chairman of Media and Entertainment Platforms” Bob Pittman gets promoted. And NPR’s new leader will be Gary Knell, who transitions from the same title at Sesame Workshop. OSWEGO — If you’ve got a particularly favorite program on WRVO, you may need to adjust your listening habits. Later this month, the NPR affiliate will be launching a third program stream. The added capacity gives the station some new opportunities to group certain types of programming together, meaning some programs will be moving to new timeslots. [More »]

OSWEGO — The award-winning newsroom at the WRVO Stations is growing. The station welcomes “Innovation Trail” reporter Emma Jacobs, who held the same title at Binghamton’s WSKG. In addition, the NPR affiliate is employing several freelance reporters to increase coverage throughout the WRVO coverage area. [More »]

UTICA/ROME — The City of Utica is in line for some pretty positive attention in the national spotlight this summer. Interestingly, some might credit the well-publicized controversy over plans for a new mosque near Ground Zero in New York City earlier this year. SYRACUSE — Top journalists from Syracuse and surrounding markets gathered for the Syracuse Press Club’s 33rd annual Scholarship and Professional Recognition Awards Dinner last night at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse. (Updated 9:15pm) OSWEGO — A one-day fundraiser called “Thousand Member Thursday” is being called a success tonight. Staffers at NPR affiliate WRVO say the station eclipsed their goal, after hearing from more than 1,300 members by the time the one-day fundraiser officially ended this evening. [More »]
