Morning Edition Producer Ryan Morden is named the station’s new Technology and Innovation Reporter. OSWEGO — The Environment Report which airs weekday mornings on WRVO will be going away soon. “Due to a lack of sustainable funding,” the station explains Friday, June 4 will be the final day for the daily reports. SYRACUSE — The new afternoon show Disturbing the Peace was supposed to debut yesterday on The New ESPN Radio (WTLA/WSGO/W249BC/W259AX). But listeners who tuned in during the advertised 2-6pm timeslot heard ESPN network programming instead. We checked in with Galaxy Communications management to see what happened. [More »]
SYRACUSE — Public broadcaster WRVO took home First Place in the “Radio Newscast” category at the Syracuse Press Club awards dinner on Saturday night. The Oswego-based NPR affiliate took home four other first-place awards and a second-place title. OSWEGO — WRVO is one of five public broadcasters chosen to take part in a “major journalism initiative” which will establish a new “Local Journalism Center” tasked with documenting technology’s role in “rebuilding Upstate New York’s economy.” The initiative will fund the hiring of new reporters, a manager to coordinate the efforts, and an interactive web portal to accompany the effort.
