POTW: Day and Night at the K-Rockathon (2010)

SYRACUSE — You’ve no doubt heard about various concert tours postponing shows or calling them off altogether, citing lack of ticket sales (likely due to consumers getting fed up with high prices).  But one local PD says, “we just want to show if you do it right, [look] what happens.” [More »]

POTW: Redneck Games with WOLF-FM (2010)

SYRACUSE — Since we took a break from Picture of the Week last week, it’s only appropriate (and a coincidence that we got two submissions) that we come back strong with a 2-for-1 installment.  This week, New Country WOLF 105.1/96.7 brings its syndicated morning show hosts into town for the 2nd annual Redneck Games. POTW: Summer Jam on the Island (2010)

SYRACUSE — Earlier this month, Citadel CHR station 93Q (WNTQ) brought several national recording artists into town for its second “Summer Jam on the Island” concert.  Tickets were free, but the only way to get ‘em was to win ‘em.  Six acts were announced back in April, and at the last minute, the station added a “surprise” special guest to the lineup. POTW: Free Ice Cream with Kiss-FM (2010)

UTICA/ROME — A major restaurant chain known for its great ice cream recently hosted “Free Ice Cream Day” at nearly all of its locations last weekend.  In many markets, radio stations ran live remotes to draw more attention to the event, and it’s been awhile since we’ve had a Picture of the Week from Utica… where Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU) was promoting the giveaway. POTW: Big Mike Meets Charlie Daniels (1980)

SYRACUSE — Put your seat belts on and hang on tight, as our latest Picture of the Week takes us back in time to 1980.  Sunny 102′s Big Mike, working for the former 94 Rock at the time, had the chance to meet Charlie Daniels.  We wonder if he’ll wear the same outfit when Charlie Daniels performs at the Taste of Syracuse tomorrow night… [More »]

POTW: A Tale of Two Webmasters (2010)

NEW YORK CITY — We’re out of the market for our latest Picture of the Week, but both of the folks pictured at left are from Central New York, and they’ve both contributed a lot of time to the website you’re reading right now.  But what’s more interesting: the chances of them running into each other for this picture: one in about 32,000. POTW: Garage Sale Jackpot (2010)

SYRACUSE — Many garage sale shoppers say they love to look because you never know what you’re going to find.  Among the piles of used clothing and old books, sharp-eyed shoppers occasionally hit the jackpot.  That’s just what CNYRadio.com reader Terrance Neidl did while browsing a garage sale in Liverpool earlier this month.
