SYRACUSE — Tommy Nast of the former 94 Rock (present-day Y94FM / WYYY) was back in town last night, recounting some of the battles he waged against 95X (WAQX) back when the two stations were bitter rivals. Nast spoke at the Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYs) Hall of Fame induction ceremony last night. 
SYRACUSE/UTICA — It’s been 30 years since Dave Frisina started featuring local musicians on his popular show Soundcheck, and this Sunday night, listeners have a rare chance to hear the very first show from 1979.
Syracuse’s annual “Chick-N-Wing” festival at the Inner Harbor will be capped off by a special all-day concert called “Soundcheck Live,” commemorating Dave Frisina’s 30 years in radio and just about as long, his show “Soundcheck,” which features local musicians. 
It’s been 30 years since Dave Frisina first came on the Syracuse radio scene. The man who started the popular show “Soundcheck” on Citadel’s 95X (WAQX), later taking it with him over to TK99/105 (WTKW-WTKV), is featured in this week’s edition of the Syracuse New Times.
