SYRACUSE — Attention journalists in Syracuse and all surrounding areas within the 21 counties covered by the Syracuse Press Club: the deadline to submit entries for the club’s annual Professional Recognition Awards is less than one week away. Entries are due next Tuesday, January 31.

SYRACUSE — Plenty of recent staffing changes to report throughout CNY lately… we heard about some of these items earlier, but weren’t quite sure if they were “official” public knowledge… until this week, when the Syracuse Press Club announced them in their latest newsletter.
SYRACUSE — When local news media outlets submit entries for the Syracuse Press Club’s annual Professional Recognition Awards in 2012, there won’t be any paperwork involved. Nor will there be any CDs, DVDs, story printouts or printed photographs.
SYRACUSE — Top journalists from Syracuse and surrounding markets gathered for the Syracuse Press Club’s 33rd annual Scholarship and Professional Recognition Awards Dinner last night at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse. Public stations WRVO and WAER dominated the radio categories, while there were plenty of ties for winners in the television categories. 
SYRACUSE — The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) 2011 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award Winners have been announced. Between radio, television and online, WCNY-TV is the only local station to appear on the list. “Our Veterans and Their Families: 21st Century Challenges” took home the regional Murrow in the Video News Documentary category.
SYRACUSE — The winners for this year’s Syracuse Press Club awards have been announced. On the radio side, public broadcasters led the pack. In TV, it’s a neck-and-neck race between WSYR-TV and WSTM-TV. And we’re also very happy to report CNYRadio.com appears on the award list as well.
SYRACUSE — Three people who work in local television are among the winners of the Club Awards announced late last week by the Syracuse Press Club. They include an anchor from WSTM, a photographer from WSYR-TV and a producer from WCNY.
SYRACUSE — Although he’s already held the post for at least a month, WCNY formally announced this week that Peter Spartano has been promoted to Vice President of Broadcasting. The award-winning journalist, who most recently held the title of Executive Producer, now oversees all television, radio, programming and education services provided by WCNY.
SYRACUSE — Full-time undergraduate journalism students are invited to apply for the Syracuse Press Club’s DeVesty-Williams Scholarship. The $2,000 award will be offered to one student who is a permanent resident of, and attends college within, the Syracuse Press Club’s 21-county service area.
SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Press Club is now accepting entries for its annual awards competition. There are several different categories within TV, radio, various forms of print media, and online. There are also some categories just for college students. You don’t have to be an SPC member to submit entries, and the competition is open to all journalists in a total of 21 upstate counties. |
