SYRACUSE — Longtime local radio personality and Syracuse University professor Dr. Roosevelt “Rick” Wright tells CNYRadio.com he’s got a publishing deal for a book about the history of Syracuse radio. But he says he can’t do it alone — he’s looking for help in putting together “the total package” of photos, posters, promotional materials, DJ histories and any other material related to radio’s history in Syracuse. Updated 12/1 – SYRACUSE — While it’s not uncommon to see “Syracuse University” mentioned by national networks like ESPN, those mentions had usually been for game highlights and other routine sports coverage typically afforded Division I schools. That all changed nearly two weeks ago, when ESPN and other networks converged on Syracuse to cover developments in the Bernie Fine case. SYRACUSE — Citadel sports-talker The Score 1260 (WSKO) launched a brand new show earlier this evening, giving Syracuse Orange football fans a chance to track the team’s preparations for the upcoming season. SYRACUSE — Top journalists from Syracuse and surrounding markets gathered for the Syracuse Press Club’s 33rd annual Scholarship and Professional Recognition Awards Dinner last night at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse. CINCINNATI — Former WSYR570 sports director and WTVH-5 sportscaster Dan Hoard has been tapped by the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals for radio play-by-play duties starting with the team’s preseason games this summer. He’ll be joining fellow SU grad Dave Lapham, who will be entering his 26th season providing color commentary. [More »]

Updated 3/30: Parkins has Tweeted his new home is Kansas City and he starts his new show there on Monday. His new home is “610 Sports” (KCSP) and his timeslot is weekdays, 9-11am Central.
SYRACUSE — He already left Syracuse once in 2009, after graduating from Syracuse University. Today, Danny Parkins surprised listeners by announcing he’s leaving again: today was his final show at The Score 1260 (WSKO). Updated 6pm: SYRACUSE — Time Warner Cable has announced late this afternoon (via Twitter) that it will be adding the HD version of truTV (formerly CourtTV) to its lineups in time for Syracuse University’s first appearance in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament on Friday night. [More »]

A new deal between the NCAA, the CBS television network and three different cable channels means you may have to do a little hunting to find Syracuse University mens basketball on your television this year. SYRACUSE — Membership numbers have been booming for student-run media organizations on the Syracuse University campus… and starting this fall, the amount of floor space devoted to those organizations will begin to catch up. A grocery store inside SU’s Watson Hall will be closed down to make way for an expansion of Z89 (WJPZ-FM) and CitrusTV. [More »]
