Updated 4/5 — ATLANTA — For the first time since 2003, the Syracuse University men’s basketball team has reached the Final Four of the NCAA tournament. Several local radio and TV stations have dispatched crews to Atlanta to cover the team’s next game on Saturday… and hopefully they’ll have a reason to stick around for the championship game on Monday.
SYRACUSE — Last week, Brent Axe revealed that today would be his final day hosting his afternoon sports talk show, On the Block, on The Score 1260 (WSKO). Originally mum about his plans, Axe has revealed he has accepted a new position as “Community Sports Engagement Specialist” with syracuse.com.
SYRACUSE — Brent Axe has been talking sports as host of On the Block every weekday afternoon for most of the past decade — first at the former SportsRadio 620 (WHEN) for Clear Channel, and since 2008, at Cumulus Media’s The Score 1260 (WSKO). But in less than two weeks, Axe will be stepping off the block. “The Axeman” opened today’s show by announcing his last day hosting the program will be next Friday, December 7.

You might not have known much else about Benetti until now — he’s this week’s Syracuse NewTimes cover story.

Little did we know then, that the series wasn’t over: Liable started off this week with a two-part series about The Score 1260 (WSKO) afternoon host Brent Axe.
SYRACUSE — As the Syracuse Crunch’s playoff bid ended on Friday at the hands of the Ice Caps in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, so did Jason Lockhart’s two-season run as the AHL team’s broadcaster. Next season, Lockhart will be on the west coast, calling games for a different team in a different league.
