FULTON — The Federal Communications Commission today released a ruling made on Friday, that it would cancel a $7,000 “forfeiture” it had levied in 2007 against Fulton station WAMF 1300 for licensing violations. The reason given by the FCC: it “has since learned” of then-owner Don DeRosa’s passing, which happened three months ago. [More »]

SYRACUSE — He worked as an on-air personality, a programmer, and even a station owner. We regret to pass along the news that Don DeRosa lost his battle to cancer yesterday. Former colleague Jeff Moulton tells us DeRosa passed at about 4:30 yesterday afternoon — while friends and former colleagues gathered in Syracuse for a benefit to help cover DeRosa’s medical bills. SYRACUSE — A few months after returning to a prior religious format, WVOA 105.1 has joined some of its sister stations in carrying the syndicated Radio Disney format. This brings Radio Disney back to the FM dial in Syracuse for the first time since it was replaced by the MOViN format (WOLF-FM/WWLF-FM) a few years ago. [More »]

Investigators are looking into the cause of Sunday’s blaze that destroyed three businesses in Fulton including the studios of WAMF 1300 AM. Because its transmitter facility is located in Granby, the automated country station was able to remain on the air.
