SYRACUSE — Even though automation systems in place at virtually every radio station in the region allow for easy and accurate documentation of every single song and advertisement that hits the air, many stations are now being watched by at least one “external” observer around the clock. LAS VEGAS — Citadel Broadcasting, the owner of more than 200 radio stations including four in Syracuse, has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. According to one published report, Citadel Chairman and CEO Farid Suleman said, “we’re glad it’s over and we can get on with running the company.” [More »]

Citadel Broadcasting could be forced to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection early next year, unless it can form a deal with creditors by mid-January. The owner of more than 200 radio stations — including four in Syracuse — admitted that possibility in a quarterly filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday. [More »]

Citadel Broadcasting’s first quarter financial report for 2009 looks no better than Regent’s — the company posted a 22.9% decrease in revenue compared to last year, and it declared that it will not be offering quarterly earnings calls or earnings-related press releases at all this year. [More »]
