SAN ANTONIO, TX — It’s an unprecedented deal between two of the biggest companies in radio: Cumulus Media is joining iHeartRadio, the platform owned by Clear Channel which already provides mobile streaming of more than 800 Clear Channel stations. By adding the 570 stations owned by Cumulus, iHeartRadio will offer roughly 1400 stations — many direct competitors with each other — through one single application. [More »]

SYRACUSE — The 9th annual “Radiothon for Kids” is underway this hour on Clear Channel stations B104.7 (WBBS) and FM Newsradio 106.9 and 570 WSYR. The radiothon aims to raise money to benefit Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. This year, broadcasters will be focusing on helping local children who are battling cancer and blood disorders. SYRACUSE — Earlier today, we reported Jim Reith has exited WSYR radio, after 27 years at the news/talk station. It appears Reith’s departure is among many nationwide, ordered by WSYR’s owner, Clear Channel Communications. Since this afternoon, the tips have poured in, and we’ve learned at least three others received pink slips in Syracuse today. [More »]

We sent out a series of questions, figuring it would be interesting to see which ones get responses. SAN ANTONIO, TX — It’s no surprise that Mark Mays intends to give up his titles as President and CEO of Clear Channel; that plan was announced last June. But now, there’s a timeline in place for the changes: he’ll be out no later than March 31. But he’ll remain involved as Chairman of Clear Channel’s Board of Directors. [More »]
