GENEVA — Tower work on the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges could force WEOS’ translator on 90.3 FM (W212BA) to shut down for awhile on Friday. The station’s primary signal at 89.7FM and all other frequencies will not be impacted.

GENEVA – In the wake of NPR’s decision last week to cancel News & Notes, affiliate WEOS has announced a number of changes to its weekday schedule, effective early next year.
Public television and radio talk show host Tavis Smiley will be offering a free lecture at Syracuse University later this month. His syndicated radio show is heard on public radio stations in the Ithaca-Cortland and Watertown markets. UPDATED (1:05PM) - The 2008 New York State Broadcasters Association “Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting” have been unveiled. We now have a complete list of winners, and they include stations in all four markets we cover… for a total of 11 radio awards, and at least 2 TV awards for former radio reporters.
NPR affiliate WRVO Oswego has changed the frequency of its Geneva translator, to avoid interference with a commercial station in Syracuse.
Ithaca will soon have a new and improved way to listen to WEOS Geneva. According to the Ithaca Journal, WEOS will soon build a full-power sister station at 90.1, under the call letters WITH. The article says WITH will be different from WEOS’ existing Ithaca simulcast on translator 88.1. |
