BUFFALO -- John Hunt was recently recognized by his alma mater, Canisus College, for his professional achievements and dedication to the community. He's this year's recipient of the college's prestigious Marilyn G.S. Watt Alumni Award.
SYRACUSE -- Come Monday, there will be a new voice in the morning at Classic FM (WCNY-FM). Peter McElvein, who has worked at the station for 15 years tells CNYRadio.com today was his last day. He's retiring after 15 years with the public station.
LOS ANGELES -- Broadcast personality Dick Clark, best known for shows like American Bandstand, the game show Pyramid and the annual New Year's Rockin Eve specials on ABC, has died following a "massive heart attack" this morning in California. Clark, who was 82, made his very first appearances on radio and television in Utica, and graduated from Syracuse University.
SYRACUSE -- Syracuse native Dusty Rhodes, who started his career at WOLF before graduating from SU and moving to Cincinnati, will be back on local airwaves again this Christmas Eve. The 50th anniversary of the nationally-known "Dusty Rhodes Christmas Show" will be carried locally on WCNY-HD2.
