ITHACA/CORTLAND — After more than 25 years of service with Ithaca’s dominant radio cluster, Cayuga Radio Group GM Susan Johnston says she’s looking forward to retirement. Her last day with the cluster, owned by Saga Communications, will be sometime near the end of March.

ITHACA/CORTLAND — Saga’s Cayuga Radio Group cluster in Ithaca is accepting applications for a full-time traffic assistant. As you might have guessed, we’re talking about the “scheduling commercials” kind of traffic, not reporting about road work and car accidents. 
SYRACUSE — Clear Channel country station B104.7 (WBBS) is once again among the nominees for the Country Music Association Awards. This year, the station is in the running for “CMA Radio Station of the Year” in the Medium Market category. Syndicated personalities carried by stations in Syracuse, Utica and Ithaca are also nominated.
ITHACA — A live broadcast this Friday from the Freedom Tower in New York City is just one of several ways the stations of the Cayuga Radio Group will be reflecting on the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. On-air personalities will also be blanketing their listening areas on what the cluster is calling “A Day of CommUNITY.”
ITHACA — They called it “A Major Fundraiser” — and they had good reason for the name. All seven stations in Saga’s Cayuga Radio Group urged listeners for contributions to help bring a new police K-9 to Tompkins County after the previous dog, Major, recently died of cancer. Listeners surpassed all expectations.
ITHACA — Saga’s Cayuga Radio Group is on the lookout for a traffic manager… meaning “schedule the commercials” kind of traffic, not the “Route 13 is jammed” kind of traffic. It’s a fast paced job, and while experience is preferred — especially with Marketron — training will be provided for the right candidate. 
UTICA/ROME — It’s a busy week at Townsquare Media’s WIBX. After 76 years as an affiliate of CBS News, the station is now running Fox News Radio at the top of the hour. There’s also new imaging, a new station voice, and the staffers are gearing up for the station’s 40th annual Heart Radiothon this coming weekend.
ITHACA/CORTLAND — Saga’s cluster of Ithaca/Cortland stations, also known as The Cayuga Radio Group, is looking for a new Chief Engineer. The official job posting reads as follows:  Betty Allinger at WIBX (Photo courtesy Chris Allinger) ITHACA — She was one of the first women to broadcast news on the radio, during World War II. And that’s just one of many accomplishments Betty Allinger achieved during her time at Utica’s WIBX, and through her heavy involvement with a long list of community organizations outside of the workplace. Betty Allinger died over the weekend in Ithaca. She was 93. Calling hours are set for this afternoon in Utica, and a Funeral Mass is set to take place tomorrow morning in New Hartford. 
ITHACA/CORTLAND — There are three more HD Radio offerings in the market now, thanks to the recent addition of multicasting equipment at Saga’s Q-Country 103.7 (WQNY). The market’s perennial ratings leader is now available in HD, and its subchannels are helping to improve the coverage of its two AM sister stations in the Cayuga Radio Group cluster. |
