CENTRAL NEW YORK — It’s awards season for local media! The Radio/Television Digital News Association recently announced its regional winners, and the Syracuse Press Club recently announced its full slate of award winners, recognizing excellence in journalism during 2009.

SYRACUSE — Sunny 102 (WZUN) morning man “Big Mike” Fiss and NPR’s Scott Simon recently shared some of their experiences in broadcasting and journalism with students at F-M’s Eagle Hill Middle School. Specifically, Simon spoke about the way technology — specifically social media — has impacted journalism. 
CANTON — North Country Public Radio (headquartered at WSLU) has a new Friday night lineup, debuting tomorrow night. The new schedule features a number of different music-focused programs.
CANTON — North Country Public Radio recently brought home two national Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio/TV News Directors Association. 
GENEVA – In the wake of NPR’s decision last week to cancel News & Notes, affiliate WEOS has announced a number of changes to its weekday schedule, effective early next year. 
This year is the 40th anniversary of North Country Public Radio, headquartered at WSLU/Canton, on the campus of Saint Lawrence University. Even though NCPR has only been around for 40 years, the history of radio at the university goes back much farther.
WSLU in Canton, the flagship of North Country Public Radio, has won five Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for Excellence from the Radio & TV News Directors Association (RTNDA). One of those went on to win a National-level Murrow. The winners list was announced Tuesday. 
A handful of Central New York’s radio newsrooms took home several titles from the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards this past weekend in Saratoga Springs. In fact, the top award-winner was from CNYRadio.com territory. |
