SYRACUSE — One of the biggest syndicated lineup changes in Syracuse TV already took place last month, when Channel 5 (WTVH-DT) managed to snatch Live! with Regis and Kelly away from Channel 9 (WSYR-DT). But a few more changes are set to take place, specifically during the 7pm “access hour.”
SYRACUSE — Anyone who works in broadcasting knows there are certain times of the year you’re forbidden (or at least strongly discouraged) to take vacation. Those are usually the most important ratings or sweeps periods of the year. But in Syracuse, you can cross 12 more days off the calendar: The Great New York State Fair. In this “Mega Picture of the Week” we have not one, not ten, but 16 pictures from this year’s fair.
SYRACUSE — If you happen to catch Mike Cauchon from 93Q (WNTQ) looking a little tired this week, give the guy a break (and perhaps a cup of coffee). In addition to his usual night show on the Citadel CHR station, he’s pulling double duty with morning television traffic reports all week.
Updated 9/13 with arrangements – SYRACUSE — Longtime Syracuse radio and TV journalist Jerry Barsha has passed away at the age of 83. His broadcasting career spanned more than three decades, most of it at 1030 James Street, dating back to the days when channel 3 was WSYR-TV and it shared the building with WSYR 570.
SYRACUSE — It’s one of the few places where you can count on seeing plenty of broadcasters together in one place every year: the Great New York State Fair, which opened yesterday in the Town of Geddes, just outside of Syracuse. In this “Mega Picture of the Week,” here are all the stations we found during a quick swing through the fairgrounds on Opening Day.

SYRACUSE — Even though it’s not related to radio (well, it could be, but we’d have to make some awfully long, historic stretches), it’s still a pretty big story. Trusted sources tell CNYRadio.com two Syracuse TV stations may be joining forces, in a move that includes one station shutting down its news department.
A couple months ago, 570 WSYR’s afternoon newscaster Kevin Schenk started appearing as the weekend news anchor over at WSTM-TV 3. Schenk has since given up the radio microphone and is now a full-time member of the channel 3 news staff.
