SYRACUSE — The search for a new brand manager at TK99/TK105 (WTKW/WTKV) is over. Harvey Kojan — whose career includes on-air and programming experience across upstate New York, and in major markets like Houston and Baltimore — will join the classic rock stations early next month.
SYRACUSE — There’s plenty of excitement these days about the Syracuse Crunch, the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning. The team has been undefeated so far, through the first two rounds of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Last Friday, a “Pregame in the Plaza” was offered to fans getting ready for the game in which Syracuse would clinch the Eastern Conference Semifinal series… and local radio and TV personalities were there too.
SYRACUSE — Gary Michaels and Galaxy Communications have parted ways, as the company continues its search for a permanent new PD / Brand Manager for classic rockers TK 99 and TK 105 (WTKW/WTKV). Michaels, who had been serving as midday host and Interim PD for the past few months, was relieved of his duties on Friday.
Updated 4/5 — ATLANTA — For the first time since 2003, the Syracuse University men’s basketball team has reached the Final Four of the NCAA tournament. Several local radio and TV stations have dispatched crews to Atlanta to cover the team’s next game on Saturday… and hopefully they’ll have a reason to stick around for the championship game on Monday.
SYRACUSE — Less than a week after a crosstown competitor released a song about the Syracuse University men’s basketball team, morning hosts Gomez and Dave from TK99/TK105 (WTKW/WTKV) and 96.9 WOUR have their own. They debuted the song this morning on their show, which simulcasts in Syracuse and Utica.
SYRACUSE — Before the NCAA men’s basketball tournament started, CBS Sports / Sports Illustrated analyst Seth Davis had predicted the 4-seed Syracuse Orange would be upset by 13-seed Montana. Davis agreed to a friendly wager with local radio hosts Gomez and Dave, and when Syracuse won big, Davis made good on the bet, on national television.
SYRACUSE – Basketball expert Seth Davis of Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports thinks 13-seed Montana will upset 4-seed Syracuse in the first round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Local morning radio hosts Gomez and Dave are hoping Davis is wrong — they’ll be “out in the cold,” so to speak, if Syracuse loses tonight.
UTICA-ROME — Less than three months after her retirement from Galaxy Communications, Mimi Griswold is returning to local radio, six days a week. The former VP of Programming for Galaxy is returning to host afternoons on 96.9 WOUR.

SYRACUSE — Veteran local rock jock Alexis, who fell victim to budget cuts in 2009 after more than 15 years at 95X (WAQX) is making a return to the airwaves. She’s taking over the 7pm to midnight shift at Galaxy classic rock stations TK99 and TK 105 (WTKW/WTKV), the shift formerly held by Mimi Griswold, who recently retired after a 20-year run with Galaxy.
