UTICA/ROME — It’s a joint effort between radio and TV stations in the Mohawk Valley, and organizers say this year’s “Stuff the Bus” toy drive is on pace to surpass last year’s total of 8,000+ toys. The entire thing wraps up with two events taking place tomorrow — in New Hartford and in Utica.

UTICA/ROME — While the rain of Hurricane-turned-Tropical Storm Irene wasn’t too intense for Syracuse, the Utica/Rome area got hit quite hard. Several streets in Oneida and Herkimer Counties have been closed due to severe flooding, and in fact, the NYS Thruway remains closed as of Tuesday night between Syracuse and Amsterdam. The locally-owned Roser cluster of stations is using social media to help people help each other as they clean up after Irene. 
UTICA/ROME — You might call it a chilly way to celebrate a birthday. Or you might be reminded of the recurring Saturday Night Live sketch where frequent host Justin Timberlake sings jingles while dressed as a mascot. 
UTICA/ROME — Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU) has received the “Shining Star Award” from the School and Business Alliance (SABA) at Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES. The award recognizes the station for a variety of activities that help educate high-school age students about careers in broadcasting.
UTICA-ROME — From the better late than never file, there are still three more shows left in the Summer Concert Series hosted by Roser Communications’ KISS-FM duo (WSKS/WSKU). They’re bringing in national recording acts every other week through the rest of this month and next. Updated 2:30pm. 
UTICA-ROME — Roser Communications’ Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU) recently invited local high schools to submit videotaped entries for the chance to let the simulcast CHR stations “invade” their prom. The station will be joined by the national recording artists Lovesick Radio, who recently posed for a photo with the station crew.
UTICA-ROME — Recent concerns about criminal activity at night clubs in the Utica area have promoted some discussion among the DJs who play music at those clubs. Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU)’s S-Dot — who also works as a club DJ — was among a handful interviewed for a newspaper article published today.

The station recently hired a new overnight jock, and their website is promoting the debut of a new morning host next week. But signs indicate the selection may NOT be so new.
