WRVO Announces a Staffing "Reset"

October 31, 2011 by CNYRadio.com

OSWEGO -- You already read here about Dave Bullard's recent move from WRVO to Syracuse ABC affiliate WSYR-TV. Now, we've learned a few others have recently exited the NPR affiliate on the SUNY Oswego campus.  The station's GM confirms at least two others have left in what he's termed a staffing "reset."

Dr. Michael Ameigh tells the Syracuse Post-Standard's Bob Niedt that Bullard, Michael Benjamin and Kate Percival left of their own accord. Reporter Joyce Gramza retains her position, but on a freelance basis rather than as a full-time employee.  Ameigh tells the paper the newly-opened positions will not be filled until the station hires a new "director of regional content development" to oversee WRVO's news efforts.

The report notes that, in addition to Gramza, WRVO has been working with more freelance reporters lately -- among them, you may recall reading here that Ellen Abbott left WSYR to become a freelancer for WRVO earlier this year.  She's been filing reports from space inside SUNY Oswego's "Metro Center" in downtown Syracuse.
