Former Syracuse DJ possible anthrax target

October 16, 2001 by Scott Jameson

Joe Gallagher made a name for himself in Syracuse back in the 1970's as the affable midday air personality on 62 WHEN. Last Saturday, shortly before he went on the air for his morning show at WGY 810 AM in Albany, he opened a letter addressed to him that contained a suspicious substance.

The building was evacuated and Gallagher was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. An Albany detective suspects the incident is probably a hoax, but the letter was sent away for testing as a precautionary measure.
