Galaxy sells its Utica-Rome stations

January 31, 2004 by Scott Jameson

Galaxy Communications is pulling out of the Utica-Rome market.

Calling it a "great day" for Galaxy, company president Ed Levine announced the sale of K-Rock (WKLL), WTLB, and Rock 107 (WRCK) for an undisclosed amount to Route 81 Radio LLC, a Pennsylvania company formed in August 2003.

Levine says the company sold the properties so that it may invest more heavily in the Syracuse and Albany markets where the balance of Galaxy's stations are located.
