Dave Frisina Profiled in New Times

May 15, 2008 by CNYRadio.com

It's been 30 years since Dave Frisina first came on the Syracuse radio scene.  The man who started the popular show "Soundcheck" on Citadel's 95X (WAQX), later taking it with him over to TK99/105 (WTKW-WTKV), is featured in this week's edition of the Syracuse New Times.

In the article, Frisina explains the "disintegrating, deteriorating situation" at 95X which included the cancellation of "Soundcheck," followed by Ed Levine's offer to bring the show to Galaxy's TK99.  Frisina also shares the memorable moment in world history that helps him remember the anniversary of "Soundcheck," as well as his original career plans, before hit was bit by the radio bug.

If you prefer techie stuff over history, Frisina also explains how he manages to juggle live air shifts in two different markets simultaneously.  In addition to TK99/105, Frisina has been hosting middays on Utica's WOUR since Galaxy acquired the station from Clear Channel last fall.

You can read the full article on the New Times website, or pick up a free copy at merchants all around Syracuse.  This week's edition also includes a farewell article in memory of longtime Syracuse radio personality Barb Gibbons, who passed away last month.
