UTICA-ROME -- This was the final week on-air for afternoon jock Paulie "the Small Guy" Szmal at WOUR. And his departure means longtime night jock "Genesee Joe" gets to hit the airwaves four hours earlier.
Confirming an anonymous tip we received, Szmal says he's leaving the rock station for a new gig in the Chicago area. He has accepted a job with Feld Entertainment, which is responsible for several major live-entertainment productions such as the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, and so on.
Szmal says, "I will certainly miss working with the people at Galaxy Communications and look forward to their continued success as I head on to a new challenge!"
Galaxy VP of Programming Mimi Griswold tells CNYRadio.com that WOUR will move longtime night jock "Genesee Joe" Travis and his longtime staple, "The Joe Show," to afternoon drive. Weekend personality CJ will move to the weeknight shift.
