Lite 98.7 Radiothon Nets $24K for Kids

March 27, 2009 by CNYRadio.com

UTICA-ROME -- Mohawk Valley listeners called in more than $24,000 in pledges during the ninth annual Children's Miracle Network Radiothon on Lite 98.7 (WLZW) over the past two days.

The unofficial total when the radiothon ended at noon today, stood at $24,414, as posted on the Lite 98.7 homepage.  But that total could grow, as listeners were encouraged to keep calling in their pledges after the station resumed normal programming.

All three of the station's primary weekday personalities were live on location from the pediatrics unit at Saint Luke's Hospital in Utica from 6am to 7pm yesterday, and again from 6am to noon today.  (Previous radiothons ran until 7pm both days; no explanation was given as to the abbreviated schedule this time around.)

New this year, the station provided on-location updates and photos from the radiothon via its Twitter feed.
