Rod Wood & Carrie Lazarus to be Inducted to Hall of Fame

April 1, 2011 by CNYRadio.com

SYRACUSE -- Congratulations tonight to NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) co-anchors Rod Wood and Carrie Lazarus.  They'll soon be regarded among the likes of nationally-known journalists like Walter Cronkite and Barbara Walters.  They're in the 2011 class being inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame this June.

The list of 2011 inductees still isn't posted on the NYSBA website as of Friday evening, but that didn't stop the ABC affiliate from making the announcement on its website.  Five other candidates will be inducted at the NYSBA's annual awards banquet in Lake George this summer.

Last year, the station produced a 30-minute special looking back at the pair's 25 years together behind the anchor desk.

Without doing a ton of research, the only longer-lasting anchor team which immediately comes to mind would be that of Chuck Scarborough and Sue Simmons, who've shared the anchor desk at New York's WNBC since 1980.  (If anyone knows of any other pairs with a comparably long co-anchor streak, feel free to post a comment below or send an email.)
