K-Rock Announces Lineup for 2012 K-Rockathon

June 4, 2012 by CNYRadio.com

Updated 6/5 to include full K-Rock press release -- SYRACUSE -- KoRn, The Offspring and P.O.D. are among the most-famous acts confirmed for K-Rockathon 17, as announced today on the three K-Rock (WKRL/WKRH/WKLL) stations.  And branching off a bit from the active rock format, the lineup also includes Public Enemy, the hip-hop group led by Chuck D and Flavor Flav.  As if 12 acts on two stages aren't enough, this year's K-Rockathon will also feature DJs mixing tunes in a dance tent.

A tip of the hat to syracuse.com's Geoff Herbert for sharing the link to the story he posted today, with full details on the concert.  After we heard the lineup had been announced, we were only able to get a brief glimpse at krockathon.com at about 6:45pm.  Clicking on a link resulted in an error message -- the server had apparently been overloaded with traffic following the lineup announcement on-air.  As of 10:30pm, both krockathon.com and the stations' primary website, krock.com were still offline.

According to Herbert's article, the lineup leading up to the aforementioned headliners will consist of Mix Master Mike, along with "AWOLNATION, The Gaslight Anthem, Eve 6, Evans Blue, Redlight King, Civil Twilight, Walk the Moon and Syracuse band Born Again Rebels."

K-Rockathon 17 will take place at the New York State Fairgrounds on July 29, with gates opening at 11am and music at noon.  Tickets will go on sale this Saturday at select sponsor locations and online at krockathon.com.  Herbert reports a limited number of tickets will be available for $30 when sales open on Saturday.  Once they're gone, the rest of the tickets will cost $48.50.

"Platinum Pass" Upgrade Details Forthcoming

According to a conversation on Twitter, K-Rock says "platinum passes" will also be available this year, with details to be announced soon.  Last year was the first year the upgraded pass was offered.  Fans willing to pay more than triple the price of a regular ticket gained access to a raised deck offering a better view of the stages, along with access to special parking areas, restrooms and bars.  Last year's platinum passes weren't announced until about a month after the initial lineup announcement, but fans who already bought regular tickets could simply pay the difference to upgrade.

Once we know more about the details for this year's platinum passes, and any additional updates, we'll have the details here on CNYRadio.com.
