Back in July, I announced this site would be taking an extended summer hiatus due to a number of personal events.  At the time, I stated a desire to get CNYRadio.com and CNYTVNews.com back up and running in October.  That's still the plan, but it's going to take some help from willing volunteers to avoid any future hiatuses.  If you're interested in joining this website as a volunteer writer, please continue reading this post.

First -- if you already expressed an interest in writing earlier this summer, when I first put out the call for volunteers -- you should have received an email from me today.  In order to maintain confidentiality for now, the message was BCC'ed to everyone... so if you don't see it in your inbox, it may have been filtered into your spam/junk folder.  If you still can't find it, let me know and I'll resend the message directly to you.

Everyone else: If you read the hiatus announcement, and my earlier call for volunteers in May, you will see why I am asking for volunteers to assist with news coverage for the site.  Even though a handful of people expressed an interest earlier, the more the merrier.  Since it'll be all-volunteer, having more people on-board means we'll hopefully always have "someone" available to handle a story, even if other volunteers are unavailable at the time.

Volunteers will have the freedom to devote as little or as much time as they feel comfortable.  If you'd prefer to stick to writing quick, concise updates about day-to-day "hard news," that's OK.  If your preference is to work on longer, more in-depth or feature stories that involve research and setting-up interviews, that's OK too.  The site and its readers will benefit from your work, and you can personally benefit from the writing experience and recognition.  Your articles could help you strengthen your networking within the business, and/or you can use your pieces to build a portfolio towards landing a paying job somewhere.  It's a win-win for everyone.

If you're interested, please contact me and we'll discuss in more detail.  Even if you're not interested, hopefully you can share this opportunity with anyone else you know who might want to join the team here.  Thanks!
