93Q Loses Station Imaging Voice

March 10, 2009 by CNYRadio.com

SYRACUSE -- We first heard of the passing of voiceover great Brian James last week, but it's just been brought to our attention that 93Q (WNTQ) was among James' many clients across the country.

According to Radio & Records, James died on Friday following a heart attack at his home in Arizona.  He was 48.

WNTQ Operations Manager/PD Tom Mitchell tells CNYRadio.com, "this was Brian's second tour of duty as the voice of 93Q."  He served in the same role in the early 90s, prior to the station's 11-year run with Bobby Ocean.

Mitchell says he also utilized James' talents at his previous station in Augusta, Maine, before coming to 93Q.

This past Friday, tophour.com posted a tribute to James, in the form of a list of legal IDs from several other stations across the country who also featured James' voice in their imaging.

Our thanks to the anonymous CNYRadio.com reader to made the connection between James and 93Q.  If you ever have any news to share, just use our Contact Form.
