UTICA/ROME -- Six local country acts will be performing together in Herkimer later this month, all to raise money for a no-kill/no-cage cat shelter in Little Falls. Bug Country (WBUG/WBGK) personality Dave Silvers will serve as master of ceremonies.
It's the second annual "H.A.L.O. Hoedown," set to take place on September 19 from noon to 6pm at the Silverado on Marginal Road in Herkimer, not far from Thruway interchange 30. H.A.L.O. stands for the full name of the shelter, Helping Animals Live Organization, Inc. Admission is $5 for adults, kids 16 and under get in for free. Every admission gets a door prize ticket, and you'll get an extra entry for those prizes if you bring along a cat food donation.

H.A.L.O. organizers say their no-kill, no-cage shelter is located within a house in Little Falls, and they usually have about 100 cats in their care at any given time. The shelter receives no government funding or grants, relying entirely on donations and volunteers.
