Roser Communications Seeks On-Air Personality

February 21, 2012 by CNYRadio.com

UTICA/ROME -- The locally-owned Roser Communications Network, which operates a cluster of radio stations and an advertising agency in Utica, is looking to hire an on-air personality.  But, for the time being, the company isn't specifying which station has the opening.

Operations manager Dave Silvers sent along the following job description to CNYRadio.com today:

Fulltime On-Air PERSONALITY Opening

Roser Communications in Utica, NY has a fulltime opening for an on-air talent-personality-jock and team player. Can you entertain with every break? Can you prepare for your show every day with more than just the latest show prep service? Can you talk TO the listeners? Can you make coffee and throw out the garbage like the rest of us?

Roser Communications is a growing company. We've never cut a job or consolidated operations and some people have been with us for YEARS. We've actually added jobs through the years and have more on air than in sales. Sound crazy? It's a locally-owned, family company that's been in the community for 30 years. The company also owns a full-service ad agency so we do some things the big boys don't -- such as billboards and continuous TV spots. So now you know a little bit about us. Now let's hear about you.

Silvers says the job opening comes "without further comment" about the shift or the station for now.  In the Utica-Rome market, Roser Communications Network operates Bug Country 99.7 and 101.1 (WBUG/WBGK), CHR Kiss-FM 97.9 and 105.5 (WSKS/WSKU) and news/talk/music 95.5 WUTQ on two AM signals (WUTQ/WADR) and an FM translator (W238CA).

Naturally curious, we checked out the station websites, but didn't find any schedule gaps or other clues as to the nature of the opening.  But, on at least one occasion in the past, Roser has been known to revert a syndicated air shift back to local.

The FCC also recently approved Roser's proposed purchase of 100.7 WRCK from the California-based Educational Media Foundation, and there's been plenty of speculation -- but so far, no official announcement -- on what RCN plans to do with the station.  As of Saturday afternoon, the last time your editor happened to be in range of WRCK, the station was still carrying EMF's satellite-fed alternative Christian rock programming.

  1. I have three years of on-air experience. It's been awhile since I've been on the air though. I am looking to start part-time perhaps in the spring. I could send a resume and an air check if you are interested. Thank You for your attention.
