February 11, 2009 by CNYRadio.com

WATERTOWN -- The station formerly known as WOTT (which moved down the dial to 94.1FM on Monday) is now going by the name "100.7 The Fox," with call letters WEFX-FM.  The new classic hits station launched at noon today, after stunting with TV theme songs ever since WOTT made its move.

Here's the official press release sent out by a Boston-based PR firm on behalf of WOTT/WEFX owner Community Broadcasters LLC:

Broadcast company introduces WEFX-FM 100.7 “The Fox” to Watertown Market

Watertown, NY (February 11, 2008) – Community Broadcasters LLC, a broadcast company which owns and operates eight radio stations in Watertown and the St. Lawrence Valley, has announced the launch of a new radio station, 100.7 “THE FOX.”  Operating under the call letters WEFX-FM, “THE FOX” will go live at 12 p.m. on February 11 and will broadcast in the Watertown market.

Establishing itself as the station that “plays the music you grew up with,” 100.7 “THE FOX” will play the greatest hits of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s.  The station’s coverage area will span the Watertown market, reaching as far south as Sandy Creek and as far north as Kingston, Ontario.

100.7 “The Fox” will reside on the frequency that was formerly occupied by sister Community Broadcasters station WOTT-FM, which recently changed its frequencies to 94.1 FM.

“The latest addition to our portfolio speaks to our commitment of providing listeners with a diverse selection of quality programming,” said Community Broadcasters co-owner Jim Leven.  “100.7 ‘THE FOX’ targets the 25-54 year old demographic, but we are confident that its programming will also resonate with listeners far outside of that age range.”
