WSLU to Launch New Friday Night Lineup

February 4, 2010 by CNYRadio.com

CANTON -- North Country Public Radio (headquartered at WSLU) has a new Friday night lineup, debuting tomorrow night.  The new schedule features a number of different music-focused programs.

The new lineup begins with Cutaway, which airs from 7-8pm.  As explained on the NCPR website, the show features "a fresh mix of folk, blues, acoustic and roots sounds."  It's hosted by Jonathan Brown.  As a result of this new add, The Folk Show shifts to Monday nights at 8pm.

Next is World Café -- and while the Philadelphia-originated program hosted by David Dye is not new, it will expand to two hours, running until 10pm.

That's followed by another brand new addition, The Latin Alternative, which is described as "a new music program featuring modern and alternative sounds for both Latino and non-Latino listeners."  Co-hosts are Josh Norek, co-founder of the Latin Music Alternative Conference, and Ernesto Lechner, a noted writer on Latin music whose work has appeared in Rolling Stone magazine.

The schedule winds down with host Georges Collinet and the award-winning Afropop Worldwide from 11pm to midnight.
