Bad weather knocks two Utica stations off the air

March 27, 2002 by Scott Jameson

Strong winds and heavy rains caused Utica stations 94 K-Rock (WKLL) and Rock 107 (WRCK) to go silent for a while last night. The Galaxy Communications stations went dark at around 6:30 p.m. due to electical problems at their Smith Hill towers.

96.9 WOUR and WUTR-TV, Utica's ABC affiliate, along with some other transmitters on Smith Hill, were turned off for a time later in the evening so that Niagara Mohawk technicians could make the necessary repairs.
