SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Press Club is now accepting entries for its annual awards competition. There are several different categories within TV, radio, various forms of print media, and online. There are also some categories just for college students. You don’t have to be an SPC member to submit entries, and the competition is open to all journalists in a total of 21 upstate counties.
All the details are available on the SPC website, along with a complete listing of categories and the official rules. Among the highlights of the rules:
- Every entry requires a $20 fee.
- A single media outlet can enter up to three submissions per category.
- Any single story, photo or other item can only be entered once — you can’t enter the same piece for multiple categories.
According to the website, the geographical area covered by the SPC awards includes the following counties:
Onondaga, Madison, Cortland, Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Lewis, Herkimer, Oneida, Otsego, Delaware, Chenango, Broome, Tompkins, and Seneca counties; and as far west as State Route 14 in Tioga, Chemung, Wayne, Schuyler and Yates counties.
The SPC website is also accepting (for free) nominations for its Club Awards. Again, details are posted on the SPC website.
Entry deadline is February 11, and the winners will be named at the SPC’s annual dinner at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse on May 7th.
