SYRACUSE — It was March 1, 2001 — exactly ten years ago today — that CNYRadio.com was born. Today, we begin a series of articles to mark the occasion. To get things started, we thought it would be fun to follow-up on the site’s very first story from a decade ago: internet rumors that 93Q’s Rick Roberts was dating Britney Spears. Obviously the rumors weren’t true — but to this day, parts of the story remain a mystery to Roberts and his co-workers.
SYRACUSE — Citing a “decline in ratings and funding,” WCNY-TV has cancelled WCNY Connected, a weekly lifestyle/entertainment show hosted by 93Q (WNTQ) morning co-hosts Ted Long and Amy Robbins. Additionally, the station is pushing its long-running Central Issues back to its original weekly format, after trying out the show as a daily offering for awhile.
SYRACUSE — You’ve heard her on the radio, you’ve seen her on television, and for the next few weeks, you’ll even see the smiling face of 93Q (WNTQ) morning co-host Amy Robbins all over the area — in supermarket checkout lanes, on newsstands, and elsewhere. She’s featured on the cover of the premiere issue of a new local magazine.
SYRACUSE — As reported earlier this week, 93Q (WNTQ) morning hosts Ted Long and Amy Robbins recently won the Syracuse New Times “Best of Syracuse” award for the “Best Local Morning Radio Show” for the 11th consecutive year.
Your editor is just back from a week of much-needed vacation. While we had a few advance stories “in the can” to auto-publish during the week off, there are several items we missed while away. This afternoon, we finally catch-up on some of those events we missed while we were out.
SYRACUSE — Morning radio DJs usually have to get up pretty early, which means going to sleep pretty early. But 93Q (WNTQ) morning co-host Amy Robbins recently stayed up a little later to help raise money for the non-profit Children’s Consortium of Syracuse.
SYRACUSE — We originally had a picture from 93Q (WNTQ) night host Mike Cauchon planned for this week, when we received a photo of morning team Ted & Amy receiving an important award. Timely events usually win the priority battle, but we didn’t want to make Mike wait yet another week (he submitted his picture about a month ago) — so we present a 2-for-1 special featuring both bookends of the 93Q weekday talent lineup!
SYRACUSE — We’re a little late with catching up on April Fools Day here at CNYRadio.com HQ… but we wanted to make sure we took a moment to make note of local stations that pulled off clever gags. So far, the one we’ve heard about was on 93Q (WNTQ), where the Ted & Amy morning show heard from plenty of irate parents after devoting heavy airtime on Thursday to a bogus pediatric plastic surgery office in DeWitt.

SYRACUSE — Congratulations once again to Ted Long and Amy Robbins — the morning show duo at Citadel’s 93Q (WNTQ) have another award to add to their display case. Ted and Amy are among eight people in the community named as winners of the 2010 Post-Standard Achievement Awards.
