UTICA-ROME — A little more than two years since the “God’s Country” format appeared on local airwaves, the commercial-free network has disappeared from radio stations nationwide. Locally, 93.5 WOKR/Remsen has flipped to the Christian rock “Air1″ network operated by Educational Media Foundation.

UTICA-ROME — A little over a month after the FCC said there are no problems with signal levels at the WOKR(FM) tower in the Town of Floyd, local lawmakers say they’re hearing positive feedback from neighbors who originally complained about dangerously high levels of radiation in June.
UTICA-ROME — After some pressure from local lawmakers, the FCC is reportedly preparing to address complaints (and scientific studies) regarding high levels of radiation from the new WOKR (93.5 FM) tower in the Town of Floyd.
UTICA-ROME — A family from the Town of Floyd says the new tower for God’s Country 93.5 (WOKR) is so powerful, the audio comes through one of their TVs, even when the set is powered off. An engineering firm hired by the town says radiation levels are so high, it’s dangerous anyone to be inside for more than 30 minutes a day. 
Scott Fybush reports in this week’s edition of NorthEast Radio Watch, that EMF-owned WOKR/Remsen (93.5) is looking to move closer to Utica. Fybush says WOKR is applying for permission to move to a new tower in East Floyd.
Even in its post-Clear Channel life, Remsen’s 93.5 FM (WOKR) just can’t seem to settle on one format for any significant legnth of time. Religious broadcaster EMF has LMA’ed the station out to a new network called “God’s Country,” featuring a different flavor of Christian music than WOKR’s previous ”K-Love” format. |
